Pilgrimage Church Bildstein
In 1519, the head servant of the Schänis convent carried a statue of Maria to the upper part of the Buchberg mountain.
The abbess at the time had a wayside shrine built to house the statue in the very same year. Pilgrims and hikers alike visit this holy place in Buchenwald von Benken. In 1965/66 the smaller church was replaced by a newer bigger one in the forest clearing. Today, mass is also held there both in and outdoors.
