Geocaching
More than just hiking! Geocaching is a type of electronic treasure or scavenger hunt.
The hiding places are published on the Internet as geographic coordinates and can then be hunted with the help of a GPS receiver, integrated in most new cell phones. You can also use very exact maps for the hunt.
A geocache is usually a watertight container in which a logbook and various objects for trade are placed. Every visitor signs into the logbook, in order to document his successful search. Then the geo-cache will be hidden at the same spot again.
The find is indicated on its page in the Internet and perhaps complemented with photos. Other people, especially the hider or “owner”, can follow what’s happening to the cache.
